Quote Unquote

Every time I write a post, I try to find a relevant quote which I then put in the "Marginal Thinking" box on the right hand side. This time, since I could not get any ideas for a new blog post, I thought I would try the opposite - look up some quotes and see if any one of them inspires me to come up with something. That did not exactly happen but I managed to find several quotes that convey what I want "Midlife Popcorn" to stand for, and do so in a pithy, witty and straightforward manner. So, here we go.

"If knowledge can create problems, it is not through ignorance that we can solve them." ~ Isaac Asimov.

"I think it is the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately." ~ George Carlin

"It is very, very easy to not be offended by a book. You just have to shut it." ~ Salman Rushdie

"I believe there is something out there watching us. Unfortunately, it's the government." ~ Woody Allen

"Many people want the government to protect the consumer. A much more urgent problem is to protect the consumer from the government." ~ Milton Friedman

" " ~ Manmohan Singh

"It is now quite lawful for a Catholic woman to avoid pregnancy by a resort to mathematics, though she is still forbidden to resort to physics and chemistry." ~ H. L. Mencken

"That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence." ~ Christopher Hitchens

"If you wish to make an apple pie truly from scratch, you must first invent the universe." ~ Carl Sagan

"A puppet is free so long as he loves his strings." ~ Sam Harris (on free will)

"In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: it goes on." ~ Robert Frost

  1. What Manmohan said (he got his training with the Master - Narasimha Rao - who is reportedly famously to have said: not to take a decision is also a decision) resembles a modern art painting - make of it what you wish..

BTW, stumbled upon this blog from Hemant's blog... and have been reading it for some time , the quotes are really nice-- seems that you spend a lot of time finding them and good that you did a whole blog post on the quotes.
